This is because i ran out of room in moving the secondary up the OTA. The secondary is thicker than the original secondary by ~ 5mm. The light in an Amici diagonal bounces off the prism surfaces 5 times verses one for a mirror or 90 degree diagonal prism. Most of the time you won't notice it unless you test them side-by-side.

If you are trying keep weight down for a travel package, seems like an extra pound just for the diagonal ought to be considered, especially if you are committed to 1.25" eyepieces for that reason as well. WebApr 9, 2024 · This is a nice diagonal, but note that the clear aperture is restricted to around 40mm to 42mm because of the eyepiece barrel stop in the top of the diagonal body. I believe this is fairly common. I use the Baader diagonal because it has a 47mm+ clear aperture, slightly larger than the rear opening in my C9.25 SCT.
