WebbSLT and ALT are used to treat open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The laser is targeted at the drainage channel in the eye, opening it up so that fluid can drain out of the eye more easily. This lowers IOP, which reduces the risk of damage to the optic nerve. WebbSLT generally uses energies of approximately 0.6 to 1.2 mJ per pulse compared with 40 to 70 mJ per pulse for ALT and 0.6 mJ per pulse for MLT. DURATION OF TREATMENT The greatest difference between ALT, SLT, and MLT is the amount of time that laser energy is applied to the trabecular meshwork.
